By the practical part we had to make an Information system of our choice.

Paper for course Knowledge Technology

Well... The winter examination period is over (for more then a week now) and I have realized that I have not published my latest papers.
Here is the firs one from this series.
The Paper is about EPG (electronics personal guide). This is a program that recommend you what is interesting on TV for you to watch.
This a research of what all was already done in this field and how is it done. My colleague and me also made some tests of different classifiers and made some conclusions which classifiers are good and which are bad to use for this kind of learning.

The Last King Of Scotland

A very cruel movie about a newly elected president of African republic Uganda. All the people cherished him at first and celebrated his victory. He said that he is the one who understands them. That he is one of them.
The story begins when a young doctor from Scotland decides to go to Uganda to help in small villages far away from "civilized" world.
He has a strange meeting with a president and president immediately starts to like him. It was the start of new friendship. The president invites him to work as his personal doctor. Later he makes him a leader of health department and later even more.
It is strange that a black president is such a great friend with a white Scot. But soon after the president is elected there are several rebellion that are quickly silenced and all the collaborators just disappears.
It is shown how the president is scared of death and what all he would do to get away from it. He quietly executed all the potential assassins and the people who are opposing him.
When young doctor realizes what is going on in the country it is but too late for him to leave. They have stolen his passport and some other personal belongings. It is unfortunately that he fells for one of president's wives (that the president is no longer keen of) and even makes her pregnant.
But the punishment is so cruel that he could not believe it. Her legs and arms were separated from body and switched in places.
Later on even he, once the presidents best friend, becomes his enemy and the president shoes his real face. But he manages to escape and run from a country with another group of tourists. And his mission is to tell the world what is really going on in the Uganda.
His dictation was over in 70's of 20th century.

Really great movie after the real-life story. Very cruel and very real.

Pucked

A comedy about a credit cards and how dangerous they can really be and how stupid the credit card issuers are when it comes to making money.
The main actor is John Bon Jovi.
It talks about a man with many original ideas that just doesn't have luck. One day he gets a credit card and starts to realizing his dreams. In particularly one of them about the worldwide woman hockey league. Once he got his first credit card he gets more and more of them and makes a big loan from more then 200 cards to get the league running. The league is a great success but at the end of the first game he gets arrested.
When he was younger he practiced law and so knew how to defend himself in the cord. And of course he makes it.
It is a simple comedy for a relaxation. Fun to watch.

The Queen

The movie about Queen of england in time of Princess Diana's death.
It shows the life of Queen in really hard time for kingdom.
I will not write more about it. If you want to know how the queen lives you really should watch this movie.

Deja Vu

I must say I doubted that this movie is watchable at all. But I have watched it anyway and I must say it was worth it. I liked the movie.
The movie is about the time spying and later even about time travel. It takes us to a crime scene where an attack is made on ship full of American soldiers. The attack was made by pure patriot that was not accepted into army because of too much love for war and weapons.
But there is also another story about the innocent woman that dies in the process.
The cop that was investigating the crime was connected to a team of FBI that had the equipment capable of viewing into the past. What they didn't know is that they could even send some messages back in time. But not only this.
Tho rescue the woman he sent to past himself. And he made it alive. He turned the path of event so, that none died and he still met the woman.
It was the love at first sight. And it was the real one.

The movie is great. It makes you think haw would it be if ...

Factory Girl

Well what can I say. I didn't like this movie very much. I actually didn't like it at all.
The movie talks about true story about a girl Edie from wealthy family that was very artistic. She even left the art college just to go to New York for real art. She was a muse of very known and eccentric modern artist Andy Warhol. They had a very strange relationship (he seem not to be in girls) and he used her and especially her money to produce alternative art.
He never payed her for nothing since that was against his concept.
She deeply fell into drugs to make her self forget things like that. One day she met a famous singer that showed her the other kind of art, the one that is even more adored and gives money for living.

The movie is quite cruel and shows what happened to many young girls like Edie.

Right in the middle

Yes just like the title says I'm in the middle of everything. I am waiting for results of two exams and I'm preparing for the oral exam on Monday. So that is how I am in the middle.

The Black Dahlia

A story from years after the war. When the Hollywood was built and there were many fights in the streets.
The story hooks us with two police officers, detectives a little later, that are solving some very strange homicides. They are searching for the murderer that has made a disaster out of a young beautiful girl.
The black sides of the Hollywood are discovered. About the beginnings of the porn industry and about the mob underground activities.
The detectives are like brothers they share all the things, they live everything together. They almost have tha same girl (well one has it and the other has it after the first one dies).
They are discovering the past of rich family that is hiding behind the great stacks of money and corruption to hide their dark side.
It is a very good movie with very complicated story.

The Devil Wears Prada

Who makes the fashion. Well, you can get your answer in this movie. It is not the designers, it is not the models, it is the lead editors of the fashion magazines.
And here we meet one. The workaholic lady that committed her life to fashion. She needs a new assistant and she gets one that does not have a clue about what fashion is and why it is so important to so many people.
Pure assistant only wants to be a journalist and takes the job of assistant because it is promising.
At first she does not let the job change her life. She has many friends, a boyfriend that loves her very much and a great family. After she takes the job, they are more or less history. The boss demands so much of her that she can't find the time for any other things. She even misses her boyfriends birthday party.
It is just like her coworker has told her. You will see when your job is great. That is when you will have big problems in your personal life.
And it is exactly like that.
Funny movie with nice ending.

Unidentified

I did not know that church sponsors Sci-Fi movies.
Well I don't really know if the church is behind this one, but it sure smells like it.
It is a low budget movie that tells us about a local paper, where two guys get the job to describe the secret of abduction that are happening around them.
There are two reporters working on the story and each one is covering one side of the story.
The firs one believes there is more about this, and believes that there are connections with religion. That devil is deceiving us and wants us to abandon out faith.
The second one however believes that someone is making money out of this. That all of this is crap and that everybody is making it up.
They make a research and came to both endings. Both of them get confirmation about their believes.
There is a hidden Christan propaganda in the movie if you ask me.
The whole thing is inspired by the radio play War of The Worlds from 1936.

Babel

Well I figured this one out quite soon.
The movie is shown like it would be made from 4 different stories. But during the movie we realize, that there are connections between those stories. It is happening aroud the globe. From USA to Japan, Egypt, Mexico.
It is a typical Hollywood movie. Some tragedies in the story, but happy ending.
I will not tell the story here, because I do not want to spoil it for you.
You should watch this one.
Oh, and girls - there is Brad playing.

Borat

Well after all that some people told me about this one, I was really disappointed. I really did not like it. I don't know the reasons.
Well if someone believes anything from this movie (and sadly I believe there are few people that do), he should not live.
I can not say more that this was very stupid movie, and was a complete waste of my time.
Still don't know why I watched it, when I said that I will not many times.

Casino Royale

007. Do you remember him.
Still my favorite Bond is Sean Connery. But he is too old for this s**t.
Well I don't know if they found a new bond, but public seems to like him. He is not quite my type. He hardly says anything and acts without his head. At least not with the right one (as ladies would say).
The action however is great. I was really sad when he messed the new Aston Martin DB7. But this was his job.
The new attraction of the movie is of course one of the most popular card game in the world - The Texas Holdem. And it is played for very high stakes. Just the way it should be.

Volver

Spanish movie about a social problem of child abuse. The movie shows the story about a mother that was raped by her father and got pregnant. So her daughter was also her sister.
The story tells us what happened to her daughter and what happened to her mother. Is a sad story abut a family that had problems.
The end however is bright and bring hope for the future.
I will not write more about the story so that I will not spoil it for you.
You should watch to find out what kind of problems the society still has and how they should not be solved.

Brina - Etno/Jazz Concert

My darling and me have the seasons ticket for Etno/Jazz concerts in Velenje.
On the Saturday the 27. January we had a Brina concert.
It is a singing improvisation of Slovenian bedtime stories. The concert was really great.

The Pursuit of Happyness

Stated as "made after a real life story", this movie shows us how a man wit a vision and will can achieve even a goal as high as to become a broke man with almost no education.
A story that brings hope to those who have almost nothing and want to live comfortable life like many other people.
Will Smith plays a father of a young boy. He and his wife can hardly make the living. They gave all the fortune for a stack of X-ray machines. They did not know that it will be so hard selling them. The wife leaves him because she does not believe that thay can get through it together.
One day he finds out that there is a chance for him to become a broke man. The firm is offering free education for few participants and the job for the best one.
Because of his will he makes it through the hard era of pay-less work. His son and him get thrown out of apartment. They even have to sleep in subway once. They are using public places for homeless people.
After the course and the exam he is really the one who won. He got the job, and his greatest wish become truth.

The Prestige

Another illusion kind of movie.

This one is about two guys that learned to be illusionist from youth. They competed with each other who will made better tricks and who will attract more public.
One of them was a natural talent, the other however was not. He helped himself with buying expensive stuff.
The story is really deep, and tricky and that is the main reason why I will not write about it here. In the movie you realize what all a man is prepared to do just to be famous.
Movie was really great and it drags you.

Another pause

Yes, well.
I should say we have a winter break, but I can not. This is the busiest time of this semester. I0ve finished all of my papers, done few exams. But I still have some. That is why I did not write up here for quite a while. There will be another pause for at least a week or so.
