The Game

It was on my way back from Japan, when I didn't have any literature or anything better to do during my 12 hour flight back to Slovenia, when I visited the bookstore, picked up some books for presents and browsed through book of my own interests (mostly fantasy and Science Fiction), when I came across the book from Neil Strauss - The Game

It was a while ago that I heard of this book. Supposedly it describes a part of life of a pickup artist (a man that goes out, picks a girl, gets her attention and makes her fall for him). We get to know what that actually is, how this community formed, how it operates etc.

The story describes how author actually joined the community, became quite a respected icon there and in the end realizes that there is much more to life than live a life of pickup artist.

I must say that I liked the end the most, when author realizes that he must stop pretending who he is if he wants to get a girl who he wants to spend the rest of his life with. I believe this is very true and the most important point that is made throughout the whole book. Even thou the book has 600+ pages, I managed to read it almost till the end just during the duration of flight. And that means it is written very good.

I can't say I recommend it, but one sure won't be disappointed reading it.

PUA gre ven, se odloči za žensko za katero ni nujno da se sploh zanima zanj. Gre do nje in ji zrecitira nekaj naučenih klišejev.

Lep Pozdrav

It would be nice if you could write it in English, since that blog is written in it.

But yea, you could say something like that. It is always the matter of perspective from which you are looking at things. One might see it one way whereas someone else might see it completely different.

The same goes for personal development. For instance I don't really see any development in getting good picking up girls. Someone else might though. It is really up to individual to decide what it is that he wants.

Are you one of "them" :)
PUA's of course :)

Regards.

I just noticed that it would be fair to log, so that no wise-guy will write as the same "anonymous".
No, Im not a PUA. Benefits of being good at "picking up" girls ?
For one you develope charisma, confidence and marketing skills as to how you affect someone when talking to them.

Apply that to the bussines world where you are in contact with clients and customers.
Thats why I mentioned the rabbit hole. Its way more than just pulling a chick from a bar. Its about your attitude towards life, psihological strenght, control over ones self and much much more.

Besides, you develope your taste.
How can you know which candy is good if you havent try different ones ? :)

I agree there are lots of benefits regarding communication skills that are not only useful in PUA but also come handy in life.

Now if you are talking about applying those skills to business world, well yes some of them might come handy, especially at selling things. But there are also many other ways achieving same skills. I agree that they might not be as fun :)

I also believe that playing "The Game" is way more than just PUA, but those other aspects are not described well in the above mentioned book. There are some pointers for sure.

What book describes well is the reaction of different personalities to effects of playing "The Game" that are not so good. Again, it depends on individual.

I must also agree on developing ones taste, unless one also knows what he seeks and wants :)
